a US singer of country music who has sold more albums than any other. His shows on stage are exciting, with Brooks sometimes ‘flying’ on wires over the audience as he sings. His album No Fences sold 13 million copies. He won Grammy awards for Ropin’ the Wind (1991) and In Another’s Eyes (1998).
II . Mel Brooks
(1926– )
a US comic actor who also directs, writes and produces films. He is known for his wild humour. He began in the 1950s as a television writer for Sid Caesar . His films have included The Producers (1968), for which he won an Oscar , the comic Western Blazing Saddles (1973), Young Frankenstein (1974), and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993). Brooks is married to the actor Anne Bancroft.
