a game in which one person in a circle of people whispers a message (= says it very quietly) to the next person, who whispers it to the next, and so on until it comes back to the first person. The words have usually changed completely on their way around the circle, and this makes everyone laugh:

It’s like Chinese whispers in the office at the moment — all sorts of rumours are going around.
