a Scottish football player and club manager. He played for Celtic (1970–77), for Liverpool , where he was also manager (1977–90), and for Scotland more times than any other player, between 1971 and 1986. He was manager at the English club Blackburn Rovers between 1991 and 1996, and at Newcastle United from 1997 to 1998.
