Meaning of DEIGHTON in English

(1929– )

an English writer of novels, especially spy stories (= ones about people employed to find out secret information). These include The Ipcress File (1962) and Funeral in Berlin (1964), which were both made into films. Deighton has also written war novels, such as Bomber (1970), and a history of World War II , Blood Tears and Folly (1996), as well as several cookery books which he illustrated himself.
