FRIENDS OF THE EARTH

an international pressure group which began in the US in 1969 and aims to persuade people, companies and governments to do less damage to the environment. It has many members in 70 countries, and organizes a wide range of activities, from international campaigns to protect tropical forests to local communities’ demands for clean water.
