a US jazz musician who played the saxophone. He was a leader of the ‘West Coast Cool’ type of jazz, and his successes included Early Autumn (1948), The Girl from Ipanema (1963) and I Remember You (1991). Getz played with Benny Goodman , Woody Herman and other famous bands. He received three Emmy awards (1962, 1964 and 1991) and was chosen for the Jazz Hall of Fame in 1986.
