of the period when James I was king of England (1603–25). This followed the Elizabethan period (1558–1603) and is noted for its writers (e.g. Shakespeare , Ben Jonson and the metaphysical poets ) as well as for its styles of architecture and furniture. The King James Version of the Bible was also produced during the Jacobean period.
