a US tennis player who was especially successful in the early 1980s. He won the men’s title at Wimbledon three times (1981 and 1983–4) and at the US Open (2) four times (1979–81 and 1984), but he had a reputation for losing his temper and behaving badly during games. He now presents sports programmes in Britain and the US.
