SKY

Meaning of SKY in English

Britain’s first satellite television company, owned by Rupert Murdoch . It began broadcasting in 1989 but combined with another company the following year and changed its name to BSkyB . BSkyB still uses Sky as the name of several television channels broadcast in Europe, which can only be seen by people who have satellite dishes or special cable connections. Most of the channels broadcast one particular type of programme and have names like ‘Sky Sports’ and ‘Sky Movies’.
