CHANGING WOMAN

[Native American] Changing woman is a representative of the universal life cycle. Daughter of Happiness Girl and Long Life Boy she has the power of creation. She grows to from baby to girl to woman to old woman, only to continue the process over again. She is also the keeper of Time. She is known by many names, symbolic of the changing seasons: Turquoise Woman, Abalone Woman, Whiteshell Woman, and Jet Woman. She is also the mother of the two Apache culture heroes: the Killer-of-Enemies and Child-of-the-Water. Changing Woman is the central figure in the Blessingway. Also, she is the changing moon.
