Meaning of MANAGEMENT INDICATOR SPECIES (MIS) in English

(Environmental) A species selected because its welfare is presumed to be an indicator of the welfare of other species in the habitat. A species whose condition can be used to assess the impacts of management actions on a particular area. Managing for these species usually requires significant allocations of land or resources.
