PAUL BARAN

Meaning of PAUL BARAN in English

While working at the RAND Corporation in the early 1960's Baran conceived the idea for a new kind of communications network; one that wasn't organized point-to-point (and therefore vulnerable to a nuclear attack), but rather one that resembled a fishnet. He introduced his concept of packet switching in a 1964 report called "On Distributed Communications". This report is considered one of the founding texts on data networking.
