Gor ‧ bals, the /ˈɡɔːb ə lz $ ˈɡɔːr-/ BrE AmE
an area of Glasgow in Scotland which used to be known as one of the UK's worst ↑ slum s (=an area of old houses in bad condition) with high rates of crime and violence. Much of it was rebuilt at the end of the 20th century.
