(1935–2003) a US born Canadian writer who wrote stories about the daily lives of ordinary people, but which also deal with difficult and complicated ↑ theme s (=the main subject or idea in a book etc) . Her books include Swann , Larry's Party , and The Stone Diaries , which won a Pulitzer Prize in 1995.
