FOLIC ACID

n. a vitamin of the B complex, found in leafy green vegetables, liver, and kidney, a deficiency of which causes pernicious anaemia. Also called FOLACIN or PTEROYLGLUTAMIC ACID.

Etymology: L folium leaf (because found esp. in green leaves) + -IC
