SIGNIFICANCE LEVEL

a concept used in research and hypothesis testing to determine the critical value against which to compare the test statistic. A test at say, the 5% significance level involves choosing the critical values such that under a null hypothesis there is a 5% possibility of the test statistic falling outside them.
