village, Cook county, northeastern Illinois, U.S. Settled in 1836, it was known as Dunton for Asa Dunton, the original settler, until the present name was adopted in 1874. The village has developed as a northwestern residential suburb of Chicago, and has some light industry. Arlington Park Race Track and Exposition Center are just west. The city is the site of a local historical centre, which includes reconstructed buildings. Inc. 1887. Pop. (1990) 75,460.
