Russian Khrebet Cherskogo, range running northwest to southeast through the republic of Yakutiya (Yakut-Sakha) and Magadan oblast (province), Russia. The range, extending more than 900 miles (1,500 km), forms a part of the extensive Verkhoyansk mountain system and comprises a series of highly dissected parallel ranges with several peaks about 10,000 feet (3,000 m) above sea level (e.g., Mount Pobeda , 10,325 feet ). The upper courses of the Kolyma and Indigirka rivers flow along narrow valleys between the ranges, cutting through them in majestic gorges. The southern part of the Chersky Range is a series of plateaus separated by depressions.
