HASTINGS, LORD

a blunt, honourable but ultimately naive courtier in Shakespeare's Henry VI, Part 3 and Richard III. Hastings' role in the former play is small. In Richard III, however, he misreads Richard's true nature and ignores the warnings of others as well as the portents of his own destruction.
