The 1945 Britannica Book of the Year (events of 1944) included the article London, reproduced below. It was the second of three such articles written by Preston Benson, who also described London in 1943 and 1945. Benson was a journalist for the London Star and the author of Unknown Country: The Story of Czechoslovakia (1942).
