Meaning of A LEVEL in English

( in full Advanced level ) n [ U , C ]

( in Britain ) a school leaving examination in a particular subject, normally taken in two parts at the age of 17 and 18 in England and Wales. Students usually take three or four subjects at the second level. This examination is needed for entrance to university:

She’s got three A levels.

I’m studying A level maths
