Meaning of BOW STREET in English

the main police court in London, which was in the street of this name until the early 1990s. It is now at Charing Cross . When Henry Fielding was a magistrate at Bow Street in the 1740s, he formed the Bow Street Runners , a group of people trained to catch thieves. This was the first step towards the creation of the Metropolitan Police in 1829.
