FULL MONTY


Meaning of FULL MONTY in English

a very successful British film (1997) about a group of unemployed men from Sheffield in the north of England who get jobs as strippers (= performers who take their clothes off in front of an audience as a form of entertainment) because they cannot find any other work. It won an Oscar for its music and a musical of the same name opened on Broadway in 2000. The full monty is an informal phrase in British English meaning ‘absolutely everything’.
