a US organization of young people who work to protect people from crime in large US cities. They do not have weapons, and the police work with them. Members wear red caps, and shirts with ‘Dare to Care’ printed on them. The Guardian Angels formed in New York in 1979 to prevent crime on the underground trains. There are now groups in many other countries.
