two Americans who wrote several successful Broadway musical shows together. Alan Jay Lerner (1918–86) wrote the words and stories, and Frederick Loewe (1901–88), born in Austria, wrote the music. Their shows included Brigadoon (1947), Paint Your Wagon (1951), My Fair Lady (1964) and Camelot (1960). All of these were made into films, and Lerner and Loewe also wrote a musical film, Gigi (1958).
