Meaning of SITWELL in English

the name of a sister and two brothers of an aristocratic English family, all three of whom became writers. Edith Sitwell (1887–1964) was a poet, best known for writing the series of poems Façade (1923). She was also known for her unusual clothes and appearance. She was made a dame (2) in 1954. Her brother Osbert Sitwell (1892–1969) wrote poems and novels, but is best known for his autobiography, published in five books. The youngest, Sacheverell Sitwell (1897–1988), wrote poetry and books about the history of art.
