Meaning of STATUTORY SICK PAY in English

n [ U ] (abbr SSP )

( in Britain ) money that employers must pay their employees when they cannot work because of illness. Employers must pay this, by law, for up to 28 weeks. If the employee is still ill after this time, he or she then receives money from the government, called incapacity benefit .
