STING

an English pop singer whose real name is Gordon Sumner (1951– ). He first became famous in the 1970s as the singer of the group The Police. In 1985 he left the group and began to make pop records with a jazz influence. He had several successful records in the 1980s and 1990s, including All This Time (1991) and Fields of Gold (1993). He is also well known for his campaigns to protect the environment, especially in South America.
