Meaning of CAPA (CRITICAL AQUIFER PROTECTION AREA) in English

As defined in the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), is all or part of an area located within an area for which an application of designation as a sole or principal source aquifer (pursuant to Section 1424(e)) has been submitted and approved by the Administrator not later than 24 months after the date of enactment and which satisfies the criteria established by the Administrator; and all or part of an area that is within an aquifer designated as a Sole Source Aquifer (SSA), as of the date of the enactment of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) amendments of 1986, and for which an area wide ground-water protection plan has been approved under Section 208 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) prior to such enactment.
