Bhut ‧ to, Ben ‧ a ‧ zir /ˈbuːtəʊ, ˈbenæzɪəʳ/ BrE AmE
(1953–2007) the leader of the Pakistan People's Party, which was started by her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. She became ↑ Prime Minister in 1988, and in 1993 she was elected a second time. In 1996 she was forced to leave her position and live in ↑ exile because some people believed she had used government money dishonestly. She returned to Pakistan in 2007 and was killed in a bomb attack while she was ↑ campaign ing to be elected prime minister for a third time.
