(1932–) a US politician who was Secretary of Defense for President Gerald Ford, and later for President George W. Bush. He was known as a Republican who believed in using military force. Some people have criticized Rumsfeld because they did not think that the US should have attacked Iraq in 2003 without the support of the UN.
