Meaning of PULSE in English

The pulse is the rhythmic dilation of an artery resulting from beating of the heart. It is often measured by feeling the arteries of the wrist The word pulse is from the Latin pulsus meaning, among other things, a beating. The ancient Greeks and Romans recognized that the pulse in arteries (as at the wrist) was connected with the beating of the heart.
