VIRTUAL TEMPERATURE

The virtual temperature of a moist air sample is the temperature of dry air which has the same density as the moist air for a given pressure. The virtual temperature and the actual temperature are equivalent if no water vapor is in the air. Otherwise, the virtual temperature is always higher than the actual temperature because air is less dense for warmer air or for air with more water vapor in it.
