ˌDead Sea ˈScrolls, the BrE AmE
a collection of ancient Jewish ↑ scroll s (=rolls of paper containing writing) from around the time of Christ. They contain the oldest copies of parts of the Old Testament of the Bible, and were found near the Dead Sea between 1947 and 1956.
