Rising in western Madhya Pradesh , it flows northeast 360 mi (579 km) through Uttar Pradesh into the Yamuna River near Hamirpur. Nearly half its course is unnavigable. It feeds a large irrigation area; the Jamni and Dhasan rivers are its main tributaries.
