Resistance group founded in 1963 by Arab nationalists and religious conservatives to depose Sultan Sa 02BD; 012B; d ibn Taym 016B; r (r. 193270).
In 1968 its leadership was taken over by Marxists. In 1970 the sultan was deposed by his son, Q 0101; b 016B; s ibn Sa 02BD; 012B; d, who softened the resistance with a combination of military pressure and economic development.
