Located in southern Alberta, it was created in 1895. A mountain recreational area, it covers 129,920 acres (52,618 hectares). It adjoins the U.S. border and Glacier National Park in the U.S.; the two parks together compose the Waterton-Glacier National Peace Park, dedicated in 1932.
