formerly Busch Gardens Zoological Park, privately owned zoo and amusement park opened in 1959 by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., in Tampa, Fla., U.S. Almost 3,000 animals representing more than 300 species are exhibited at the 121-hectare (300-acre) park. Its specialties are African ungulates (hoofed mammals) and psittacine birds (parrots), several species of which are bred on the grounds.
