Pinyin Jun, Chinese stoneware of the Northern Sung period (960-1126), from Chn-chou in northern Honan. One class of these glazed wares consists mostly of opalescent blue pieces (ranging from grayish blue to a plum colour), many strikingly splashed or mottled in purple or crimson; the glazes are generally crackled. Another well-known class has a type of red, or flamb, glaze and consists of flowerpots, bulb bowls, elegant shallow dishes, waterpots, and small boxes.
