The Cuillin Hills are among the steepest mountains in the United Kingdom and include 15 peaks above 3,000 feet (900 metres). There are two main ridgesthe magnificent Black Cuillins, some peaks of which remained unclimbed until the late 19th century, and the Red Cuillins, around Loch (lake) Coruisk to the south.
