also called Australian Pitcher Plant (Cephalotus follicularis), only species in the flowering plant family Cephalotaceae, native to damp sandy or swampy terrain in southwestern Australia. It is a perennial herb with a deep taproot and a short, woody underground stem and buff-coloured flowers. The lower leaves are adapted to a pitcher shape which traps insects and secretes a liquid that digests them.
