Spanish Ro Guaina, in northwest South America, one of the headstreams of the Negro River (q.v.). It rises in the rain forest of eastern Colombia and flows east, then northeast and southeast, forming part of the Colombia-Venezuela border. After 400 miles (640 km), the Guaina joins the Casiquiare River near San Carlos de Ro Negro and becomes the Negro.
