RIED

also called Ried im Innkreis town, Bundesland (federal state) Obersterreich, northern Austria, located west of Wels. It has a museum of folklore and a parish church (172133) with two 17th-century altars. The town is the market and administrative centre for the fertile Innviertel (Inn District). It is a rail junction and manufactures skis, shoes, and stockings. The town is well known for its biennial agricultural shows, and nearby oil wells have been in production since 1959. Pop.
