STILT BUG

any fragile, long-legged, slender insect of the family Berytidae (or Neididae, order Heteroptera), which contains more than 100 species. These sluggish, brown, plant-feeding insects are 5 to 9 millimetres (0.2 to 0.4 inch) long and are usually found in dense vegetation throughout the world. Jalysus spinosis of the eastern United States damages corn, peach, and tomato crops. J. wickhami is found in the central United States.
