FOSBURY FLOP


Meaning of FOSBURY FLOP in English

( in sport ) a way of doing the high jump. The person jumps backwards over the bar with the legs following the upper body. It is named after the US athlete Dick Fosbury (1947– ) who first used this method at the 1968 Olympics and won a gold medal. It is now widely used by other athletes.
