a poem published in 1910 by Rudyard Kipling . It consists of a single long sentence beginning with the word ‘if’, giving advice to a boy on how to become a man. It is in the Victorian (2) tradition and now seems rather old-fashioned, but the poem remains extremely popular and is often voted the favourite poem of British readers.
