Meaning of NATIONAL LOTTERY in English

( in Britain ) a lottery which raises money for the arts, sports, charities, the National Heritage Memorial Fund , and other projects. The lottery was introduced by the government in 1994. The National Lottery Commission is in charge of the lottery and was responsible for choosing the company Camelot to run it.
