SOUTH CAROLINA

a south-eastern US state on the Atlantic Ocean, also called the Palmetto State. The capital and largest city is Columbia. The state was named after the English king Charles I and was one of the original thirteen colonies . It produces textiles, fruit, tobacco, chickens and cattle. Its tourist attractions include the Fort Sumter National Monument and the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia.
