UNIFICATION CHURCH

a religious organization begun in Korea in 1954 by the businessman Sun Myung Moon (1920– ) and now established in many other countries, including the US (where its main offices now are), Britain and Australia. Members of the organization are called Moonies . Sun Myung Moon was sent to prison in 1984–5 for failing to pay enough US income tax.
