MILITARY ASSISTANCE FOR CIVIL DISTURBANCES

A mission of civil support involving Department of Defense support, normally based on the direction of the President, to suppress insurrections, rebellions, and domestic violence, and provide federal supplemental assistance to the states to maintain law and order. Also called MACDIS. (DODD 3025.15)
